Every month, approximately 3,400 people (more than 9,000 times a month on average) are provided through the food pantry of their choice.
It is always a priority not to have enough food for those who need their help, but to have a good variety of healthy food products (vegetables, fruits, pasta, beans, meat, bread, and products) available every day the food pantry is open.
Customers are encouraged to come weekly to receive supermarket assistance.
The Helping Hands Ministry believes in giving food every week instead of every month to provide more opportunities face to face to share the love and gospel of Jesus with everyone.
Depending on the size of the family (Single Individual, Regular, Medium, or Large Family), different canned or boxed foods are allocated to customers.
Customers receive an additional allocation of products, bread, and meat items.
Customers have a choice of any food that is stored for their consumption, which is why the pantry is called "customer choice".
Helping Hands Ministry was the first pantry in Bell County to offer a food pantry chosen by the customer.
The goal is to instill dignity in the lives of those who come for help, as they can choose for themselves what food they need; giving clients choices helps promote independence.
Every year, 6,800 clients receive food aid 105,000 times.
