Giving 1 star because regardless of the staff being rude and not friendly, the agency does help with some food. I am not including as rude the volunteers who are loading food who are nicely helping, but the staff doing intake at your window or directing traffic. You get the feeling that you are not welcomed and that they hate that you are there. I'm college educated and have worked for many years as a social worker for many non profit agencies. I stopped working due to having babies during the pandemic and decided to get help with food since place is close to home and I'm a stay home mom now and not working. Since I first started going, I noticed intake staff being very cold and a little rude in the way they talk to you. I tried to not take it personal. But just recently I had the worst and most humiliating experience with a man that seemed to be in charge. As a new process, I was aware that we were supposed to do an intake application and I was given one and told to return it next time. I understood. I went back after a week with my filled out form and was told they were not accepting those. I asked why if it was given to me to submit. The man in charge came by and told me I had to register online. I told him if I could park and register online since I had plenty of time and I was already there with my babies, and he said no. I had my kids with me and he was giving any excuse possible to send me home without anything. I asked him nicely something and he said, " Be quiet". I was asking things to know about their process. I felt so bad when he yelled at me that I said "Thank you" and drove off crying. I felt very humiliated. Like never before. This is a church that is supposed to help people in need. Me and my kids were not starving, but I can't imagine him doing this to people who literally have no food and no other resources. He has no idea what people are going through. Being so rude for a bag of food was not necessary. This agency doesn't get too packed, so the arguing for a bag of food just seemed very selfish, like I said, coming from a church. He didn't want to take my intake forms, which was all they needed. I understand rules, but the attitude was just very inhumane. I hope their attitude changes because they are representing a church and a humanity effort agency.
